Pastor Rick Warren in his book The Purpose Driven Life vividly promotes the value of mission trips with his words,

“I urge you to save and do whatever it takes to participate in a short-term mission trip overseas [out of the U.S.] as soon as possible….  It will enlarge your heart, expand your vision, stretch your faith, deepen your compassion, and fill you with a kind of joy you have never experienced.  It could be the turning point in your life” (Warren 302).

We of Living Hope Nicaragua strongly agree. We feel the best way to know about what we do in León, Nicaragua is to be here. We are overjoyed when you join a team and come to Nicaragua. We can assure you that it will be more than a trip. You will be blessing the lives of many children, youth and families. You will be a part of changing lives in sharing the love of Jesus with others.

And your life will be tremendously blessed and changed in sharing ministry with us. Together we will be further building the kingdom of God on earth. We believe God has a plan for all of us,

“…a plan to prosper [us] and not to harm [us], a plan to give [us] hope and a future” (Jeremiah 29:11).

Living Hope Nicaragua handles all in-country details: ground transportation, housing, food, translators; so our teams and their leaders can share a rich, memorable experience.

Who do we serve during a mission trip?

We serve families in the communities of the local churches with which we work. We plan and participate in different activities for and with children such as sharing Bible stories through song, dance and drama; playing; providing piñatas; and just spending time talking and getting to know the children.

We serve young people through our English program. We teach them English, pray with them, sing Christian songs in English, learn Scripture in English, and share the love of Jesus with them.

We also serve young people through an overall youth program. In addition to teaching English, we teach youth how to dance to Christian songs and how to create drama with evangelistic messages. We provide the youth leadership training to equip these young people with the skills to become community and church leaders. We plan and organize community evangelism for young children in their neighborhoods by inviting them to come hear Bible stories, to play fun games, and receive candy treats. We organize and provide neighborhood crusade open-air services, which allow participants to join in singing Christians songs, hear a sermon, and have the opportunity to accept Christ in their lives. We plan and organize youth talent shows and concerts with the purposes of showcasing their talents and reaching out to more young people for church. We plan and provide sports activities, always with the purpose of sharing the love of Jesus with youth and hoping to reach them in ways outside the church.

We serve families (marriages) attended by local pastors, who provide marriage assistance with the purpose of strengthening the families. We believe that in strengthening marriages we are strengthening the family.

We organize prayer walks in neighborhoods to visit church families and share bags of food with them. We share testimonies and pray with and for them.

We visit mission churches in small communities to learn more about their work, especially how they reach out to people for the church. Mission team members have the opportunity and honor of meeting missionary pastors who lead these churches that are in development. And much more.
